There Are Wonderful Days

Today I have both of my girls with me. Dana and I are baking bread together as Kate is playing computer games, listening to music, and petting her cat. While posting a photo is easy, there is no technology yet that allows us to post the aroma of the brioche just out of the oven, or a link to the warmth of the December sun slanting sharply through the patio door. There are wonderful days. This is one of them.

Today's News

Lately I find myself reading the newspapers less and less, and looking for the news right outside my own windows. For example, this just in: a small motorized skiff and a larger cruiser just passed one another going in opposite directions on the Napa River. Persons aboard all seemed to be having a wonderful time.

Here’s another item for my news site: The Sleeping Maiden, also known as Mt. Tamalpais, continues to lie directly southwest of my "crow's nest" window, bringing me tremendous comfort in what is often referred to as a rapidly changing world.

And one more, before I tackle the house cleaning on the lower story: my neighbor, age irrelevant, continues to cut and stack firewood in preparation for the coming winter season in spite of the current glorious weather and delightful temperatures. His foresight reflects personal discipline and a sense of stability that I, age equally irrelevant, totally lack. This could explain my current state of economic affairs.

Speedboat sighted headed under the Causeway Bridge: no film available, so imagine it yourself.

More later, as the events happen, and as I happen to be looking out the window.
